Officers reported they were alerted by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for details.

An important representative said the incident made him speechless and had to be solved quickly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
